Software Engineer
Franklin Burgess is a seasoned software engineer with a solid foundation in computer science, which he studied at the University of Edinburgh. He started his professional journey with entry-level positions in small tech firms, before securing a significant role at one of the industry’s leading companies.
In his current UK-based position at Microsoft, Franklin is responsible for developing innovative software solutions that address complex technological challenges. His work involves advanced coding, project management and staying up to date with the latest technological advancements.

Travelling the World
Outside his professional life, Franklin’s interests include travel and sports. He has visited six of the seven continents, including trips to Croatia, the Maldives, Mauritius, the Seychelles and the Caribbean, extensive travel throughout Europe, and recent trips to Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Often opting for eco-friendly modes of transport such as trains and buses to minimise his environmental impact, these travel experiences have broadened his perspective and informed his personal and professional growth.

Franklin supports Chelsea Football Club, a passion that started during his childhood. He grew up holding a season ticket and regularly attended games with his family, a tradition that fostered his lifelong enthusiasm for the sport. His connection with the club continues to be an important part of his life, providing a common ground for family bonding and personal enjoyment.

Swimming
Swimming has been a significant part of Franklin’s life since his youth, when he competed for his local team between the ages of 12 and 17. Though his focus shifted towards computing in his later teens, his passion for swimming has endured. Today, Franklin regularly engages in open water and wild swimming, activities that offer not only physical conditioning but also mental rejuvenation. His commitment to swimming demonstrates his dedication to maintaining physical fitness and a balanced lifestyle, despite the demands of his career.
